우리교회가 후원하는 스리랑카의 소마라트나 박사님(콜롬보 신학교 역사신학 교수)께서 드디어 스리랑카 언어로 된 성경백과 사전 전체를 완성하셔서 출판하였습니다.

하나님께 감사 드리며 진심으로 축하하고 함께 기뻐할 일입니다.
불교국가로 소문난 스리랑카의 목회자들과 교우들과 신학도들이 큰 힘을 얻을 줄 확신합니다. 새로남 성도 여러분의 후원에 감사드립니다.

Preface(서문)
This is the last volume of the projected seven volume series of the Sinhala Bible Encyclopaedia.
이것은 신할라어(Sinhala) 스리랑카어 백과사전의 총 7권중의 마지막 책입니다.

It is written with a view to assist the new generation of seminary and university students as well as all the inquring students of the Bible in the Sinhala language.
이 백과사전은 새로 대학원에 참여하게 된 대학원생의 시각과 신할라어(Sinhala)를 사용하는 학생들이 참여했습니다.

Pastors who serve Sinhala speaking congregations would find this volume useful to discover background data on the Scriptures.
신할라어(Sinhala)를 사용하는 교회들을 섬기는 목사님들에게 이 백과사전이 성경의 배경을 발견하는데에 도움이 될 것입니다.

Greatful acknowledgement is due to all who made this venture a success.

When the author sat down at the library of Fuller Theological Seminary on October 7,1994,Rev.Ezra Jung ho Oh sat at the next table.
1994년 10월 7일 미국 풀러 신학 대학원 도서관에서 오정호 목사님께서는 제 옆 책상에 앉았습니다.

In the course of conversation, the author mentioned the necessity of a Bible Encyclopaedia in the Sinhala language.
저는 그에게 신할라어(Sinhala)로 된 성경 백과사전 작업의 필요를 언급한바 있습니다.

The author had very idea of the complexity and scope of the task, but was encouraged by Rev. Oh embark on the project.
저는 이 작업의 복잡함과 과제들을 가지고 있었는데, 오정호 목사님께서는 이 프로젝트를 크게 격려해 주셨습니다.

Ever since Rev. Oh has been a constant source of encouragement and support.
지금까지 오정호 목사님께서는 한결같이 격려와 후원을 아끼지 않으셨습니다.

He is, at present, the senior pastor of the Saeronam Presbyterian Church, Daejeon, South Korea.
현재 그는 한국의 대전에 위치해 있는 새로남교회의 담임목사님이십니다.

Since then I have been able to visit his church twice and receive his blessing for this work.
그후로 나는 그의 교회를 두번이나 방문할 수 있었으며, 이일에 대한 축복과 격려를 받았습니다.
